A Tradition Vietnamese Soup

Sorrryyy...I've been caught up with schoolworks and I'm finally finished with the worst week of the semester so far (3 tests, 2 papers and 1 presentation). So based on my roommate's demand, the Hot and Sour Fish Soup is what I've experimented with and this is the recipe i modeled after. i have made some minor adjustments as I do not have all the ingredients followed.




My version includes:
1) Tomatoes
2)Bean sprout
3)Water-spinach
4)Okra
5) Taro root
6) CATFISH!!!! (the central ingredient)

There are also assorted ingredients too such as tamarind paste, fish sauce, sugar, salt, and sugar. I dont know how much i exactly I put in of each because Asians dont do that...we eye-measure everything haha

I followed the instruction step-by-step and it is fairly easy and simple soup. This is my final version of the soup turns out to be like:



Well overall, I received a 3 thumbs up because of the lack of ingredients and the "judges" advised me not to overcook the fish next time. Oh well, tough luck and a lesson learned.

P.S. the final judge still has not decided on her alias yet and i'll be sure to update that ASAP!!! Whoop!

How's it all started...

1. My name is Jesse and this is my first journal entry in any forms.
2. This is a class assignment for my English class; yet, I feel very relax doing this--talk about an oxymoron.
3. The purpose of this project is to discover myself and to keep other ppl in my life intertaining...that's why I have chosen "experimental cooking" as my subject.
4. I have chosen the name "Laboratory 131" because my roommates suggested it....131 is my room number at an undisclosed location....got cha thinking huh =]
5. My "experiments" are not completely randomized because I do not have the sole authority on these choosing the project....my two wonderful roommates will do that and they are very demanding people i must say...poor me =[
6. My roomates also serve as the "judges" and they will grade my "tests" on a scale of 1-4 thumbs up or down...depending on their mood or on the quality of the food...i hope it is the food because it wont be fair to me.
7. Because this is the INTERNET and almost everything is can be found, I have decided that my two roomates should come up with alias names...one have decided to be named as "TEAZIE MCTOOSH) and the other one is fighting for that name so it will be a while but i'll make sure to post an update on that.
8. I have an average cooking experience so don't expect too much people...it's an experiment and if you happen to like the food then shoot me an email..i'll be more than happy to give you a share (RESTRICTIONS: only for ppl in my English class (including the prof this time))
9. One day, if you guys wander at a restaurant and happened to look in the menu of a new dish that you REALLY want to try but just don't know how will it taste...then leave it up to me...leave a comment or suggestions, i will "experiment" with it and tell you how it goes.
